I completely forgot to add one of my recent favorite jokes: “Atoms are binary. They’re either hydrogen or helium, we can’t just throw out this model because less than 1% of atoms aren’t hydrogen or helium.”

Run for office. I'll vote for you. Thinkers are in short supply.

Also: will you be selling signed copies of this book at.somw point? Maybe? Please? I pre-ordered but I like signed copies better.

The world is not black and white, it’s many stages of gray.

But I believe, that if you do something, weather it’s hitting the gym or doing homework you should give it your all (100%) or don’t even bother (0%)

You can’t be a 50% smoker - it is still smoking.

Opinions gray

Actions black or white

I disagree. Some action is always better than no action. That thinking is the basis of diet culture in the US and a large part of our obesity epidemic. Either you're an adonis, or you're a fat fuck who will never get in shape so why bother?

Learning to quit smoking one cigarette at a time, learning to enjoy the taste of vegetables by cooking them in something unhealthy like butter, or going to the gym once a week instead of never are still massive improvements dependimg on where you started.

Jason, did you see Adam Mastroianni's recent post on a similar topic? He has some more suggestions on what to do about this tendency, you might enjoy it: https://experimentalhistory.substack.com/p/the-radical-idea-that-people-arent

I'm noticing myself, and people I know my age, doing this more and more. I've seen things get harder and more complicated for people and they just say 'Fuck it, I'll just do whatever {insert radical talking head here} says.' I've fallen into it myself and have to remind myself not to be an idiot when I notice I'm doing it.
